The third Builders Merchant Building Index Round Table Debate recently took place to discuss topical issues and the implications for the industry.

The BMBI is a brand of the Builders Merchants Federation, which hosted the debate at its offices in Coventry.

Both BMF Chairman Peter Hindle, who represents builders’ merchants, and Mike Rigby, CEO of MRA Marketing, produce the BMBI reports. They took part in the debate which was chaired by Jennie Ward representing Builders’ Merchants News.

The debate covered six main topics:

1. The skills shortage

2. Changes in buyer behaviour and how we sell

3. Manufacturers adding value

4. Brexit

5. Grenfell – a year on

6. UK building & General economic confidence

The debate was videoed in full and a new video topic will be uploaded each week to the BMBI website , starting with ‘Dealing with the skills shortage’.
