Staff from a Shropshire firm have given up their free time to help a colleague prepare for a mammoth charity rally challenge.

Jack Thomas is a member of the building maintenance team at Tudor Griffiths Group, in Ellesmere, and he will be taking part in the Banger Bust Up Rally in aid of Cancer Research UK in July.

The challenge will involve Jack driving a pink Nissan Micra from Oswestry to Croatia over five days, from July 10 to 15, stopping at different checkpoints along the way and completing tasks to win points.

Thomas said: “I’m really looking forward to taking part in the rally, and I’m so grateful to everyone who has sponsored me so far. It’s all for a great cause, and I can’t thank all my sponsors enough for their generous donations.”

“They gave up their spare time to spray the car for me which was so kind of them, and thanks to the incredible colour it will be really difficult to miss as the rally stretches across Europe!”

TG Group Managing Director, Tudor Griffiths, said: “Jack has set himself a particularly tough challenge, and we’re very proud of his dedication and commitment to such an important cause.

“It has been great to see his colleagues helping to prepare the vehicle in their spare time, and the teamwork has definitely paid off to create a showstopper of a car that will certainly get noticed along the route.”
