A collaborative project between Stewart Milne Timber Systems and Taylor Lane Timber Frame has been recognised for demonstrating the best use of timber frame at this year’s coveted Structural Timber Awards.
Each year, the Structural Timber Awards seek to highlight outstanding projects, innovative products and dynamic people, while promoting excellence in structural timber across the UK. The Timber Frame Project of the Year is awarded to the overall highest scoring entry for a project built using timber frame technology.
Stewart Milne Timber Systems and Taylor Lane Timber Frame had been appointed by contractor Lovell to deliver 450 new homes at Larkhill on Salisbury Plain for military personnel returning home from Germany, as part of the Ministry of Defence’s re-basing programme.
The project captured the industry’s attention when it was revealed that, in an unprecedented move, two traditionally competing timber frame manufacturers would work together to deliver the homes. The initiative is part of a wider Defence Infrastructure Organisation project which aims to deliver 917 homes on the land across three sites at Larkhill, Bulford and Ludgershall.
