LOUGHBOROUGH: Polypipe Civils has implemented an Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with the standards set out by BS EN ISO 14001.

The EMS put into practice by Polyipe Civils covers all areas of the business such as the production processes, material storage and product transportation and is designed to conform to the International standard and manage the business's impact on the environment.

Current environmental legislation must be adhered to in order to meet the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001, ranging from Building Regulations, to the Control of Pollution and Water Resources Act, demonstrating Polypipe Civils' commitment to improving its environmental performance.

Oliver Monk, head of quality and atandards for Polypipe Civils explains the reasons behind the implementation of the BS EN 14001 management system: "The business has always looked to take the lead within the sector and develop a framework for reducing its environmental impact. Through the new EMS we are able to make direct changes to our management processes and maintain control over the environmental aspects covered by the standard.

"Moving forwards we're committed to complying with all environmental requirements and demonstrating our adherence to the environmental legislation included within BS EN ISO 14001. This includes improving areas of the business outside of the standard, with particular focus on our use of recycled materials."
