Sales of Polyfit, the white push-fit system from Polypipe Plumbing & Heating, have trebled following the success of last year’s Sales Accelerator Challenge for merchants.

Merchants from regions across the UK had the chance to compete against each other to win an exciting prize. Participating merchants were organised into league tables that included current stockists and new stockists, and managers from the best-performing stores and their customers were all invited to take part.

In exchange for increasing sales of Polyfit, winning merchants earned places at one of two special racetrack days where they drove the world’s fastest cars including a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Ferrari 360 and a Lotus Elise. The racetrack days took place at Teesside (Middlesbrough) on 26 March and at Heyford Park (Bicester) on 28 March, and trophies were awarded to those drivers coming in first, second and third place at each event.

The best-performing driver overall from the Northern event was Archie Mason from PTS in Dalkeith Midlothian, Scotland. In the South, Paul Clark from PTS in Diss, Norfolk scooped the top spot.

James Bell, product manager, said: “Polyfit is one of Polypipe Plumbing & Heating’s most well-known plastic plumbing fittings. Our campaign aimed to get Polyfit into installers’ hands; after all, with no two jobs quite the same, it’s important that installers use the most effective and proven products.

“The campaign and the racetrack day gave us a chance to further reinforce Polyfit’s key brand messages and it also encouraged a bit of healthy competition between the merchants to drive sales too. The campaign has led to impressive sales and a renewed awareness for one of our most well-established pipe fittings. Moreover everyone had a great day out, which was well-deserved.”
