Jewson provided work experience for two of the trainees on the Prince’s Trust Get into Construction Programme, organised by Novus Property Solutions.

The three-week course was for unemployed trainees in the Stoke area to experience life in the construction industry. The trainees worked at Jewson’s Burlsem and Hanley branches.

Paul Murray, Jewson’s North West sales manager, said: "This is not the first time Jewson has assisted Novus with its apprentice programme. Our two companies share the same values and understand the importance of engaging with the local community to provide training and education wherever we can.

“The trainees did a fantastic job at the branches and we hope that their time with us has inspired them to work in the construction industry."

Twelve trainees, aged between 18 and 25, took part. This enabled them to gain practical experience and training in a wide range of areas such as painting and decorating, joinery and maintenance, as well as working on a real-life maintenance and painting project.
