The Independent Buying Consortium (IBC) is celebrating the end of another successful year.

IBC was established five years ago with an initial eight members and six suppliers. The buying group is now heading into 2014 with 175 members across the UK and more than 80 national suppliers.

Vick Patel, chairman of IBC, said: “When we set out on this journey at the end of 2008, we never thought that in five short years we would have grown to the size we are. We would not be where we are now if it wasn’t for the support of our members and suppliers, as well as NMBS and UNIMER. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them for their support.”

John Brett, sales and operations director, echoed these thoughts. “We have established a strong and dedicated team who have played no small part in the success of IBC,” he said. “We have added to our ranks over the past 12 months in sales and marketing, which has enabled our team to become stronger.”

Newly appointed managing director Paul Read added: “Our working relationship with the Builders Merchants Federation was one of a number of highs this year. Their support has been a real asset to the group and we look forward to a successful 2014.

“On behalf of everyone at IBC, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all those that have supported us during 2013 a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to working with you in 2014.”
