Local community members and staff from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Jewson recently volunteered their time at Forton Cricket Club in Shropshire, to help renovate the club’s ground as part of NatWest CricketForce 2014.
Former England cricket captain Mike Gatting, former England bowler Matthew Hoggard, and Danielle Wyatt from the England women’s cricket team also turned up to lend a helping hand.
Jewson’s key account manager James Bugden said: “When Forton Cricket Club signed up to the initiative and told us about the work they wanted to carry out on their pavilion and grounds, we thought it would be a great opportunity to lend a hand and do something for the community. We supplied the club with an extra £500 to spend at Jewson to get their grounds and facilities in top condition.
“The day was an overall success and the ground looks great – ready for the season ahead! We’d like to thank everyone that helped out, in particular our suppliers that either donated or heavily discounted products for the project: Salop Sand and Gravel, Grange Fencing, Rowlinson Garden Products, International Timber, Lafarge Cement, Crown Paints, Hamilton and Akzo Nobel.”
Jewson has also recently helped Corley Cricket Club as part of NatWest CricketForce 2014. As a primary supporting partner of the initiative, Jewson have given clubs across the country the opportunity to apply for a Jewson Privilege Account. This involves a club paying £50 into a Jewson account and the ECB adding a further £350, giving the club a total of £400 to spend. The money, which is to be spent in a Jewson branch, can be used to purchase much-needed building and decorating products for use by volunteers, in order to keep their grounds and facilities in top condition.
