Plumbase Industrial has added nine new branches to its network as part of ambitious plans to achieve national coverage by the end of 2014.

The inaugural branch of Plumbase Industrial opened its doors in July 2013, focusing on providing building materials for the commercial building services and industrial process markets.

Its expansion commenced in March 2014 with the roll-out of additional branches in Barking, Bridgwater, Plymouth, Farnham, Colchester, Nottingham, Bradford, Portsmouth and Farnworth (near Bolton), with the potential to open more branches by the end of the year. The company had employed 50 staff by the end of May.

Plumbase Industrial, part of Grafton GB, is aimed at mechanical and electrical (M&E) and specialist contractors working on major building projects. The company says it offers professional knowledge and expertise, alongside value engineered solutions – particularly pipeline and mechanical engineering supplies – designed for the commercial heating market.

John Rees, managing director of Plumbase Industrial, said: "It was always our intention to offer a competitive alternative for the M&E market and for that we recognise that we need to have a larger branch network. The success of our proposition has already made an impact on the market, so we are now forging ahead with a bold expansion programme.

"Our goal is to be a truly national player by the end of the year, so our focus on understanding customer needs, working collaboratively to deliver results and providing expert advice will be available to a much wider group of M&E businesses around the country."

Plumbase Industrial is also adding to its existing, expert staff by hiring highly experienced people from across the market.
