Eveready Hire, the independent regional plant and tool hire company, has added three Euro V specification 26 and 18 tonne trucks to its rapidly expanding delivery fleet on a contract hire deal from Ryder.

The new trucks operate from depots in Watford, Leatherhead and Godstone.

“Our hard-won reputation is based on delivering quality plant and equipment exactly at the time agreed with the customer – so it’s essential to have modern, high-specification and reliable trucks that are always ready for work,” explained Colum Mannix, Eveready’s managing director. “We operate in a very competitive environment and we’ve built our customer base on our promise that hired equipment will always be fit for purpose and delivered on time, with no exceptions.

“We are a relatively young business, having been founded just 10 years ago, and our management style has always been to put customer service first. Our first trucks were pre-owned and, due to their relatively short daily mileage, we were optimistic that we could get at least 10 years of service from them. However, the rising cost of repairs and the requirement to meet lower engine emissions meant that new trucks were required in order for us to maintain customer delivery expectations.

“After looking at a number of vehicle acquisition options, we concluded that contract hire vehicles from Ryder not only met all of our requirements, but also gave us better budget controls. Ultimately, we are not a transport business, so outsourcing the provision of our trucks makes perfect sense.”

Robin White, Ryder Europe sales and marketing director, added, “Eveready Hire is typical of an increasing number of firms in the building and construction industry that are now realising that contract hire can be a perfect solution. Ryder can provide the latest-specification, environmentally friendly vehicles and peace of mind when it comes to meeting customer delivery expectations.”
