Premium shower and tapware manufacturer Methven has announced the appointment of Martin Walker as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of Methven UK, following the resignation of Steve Lee.

Mr Walker will take up his new role on 11 August. He joins Methven from creative plastics manufacturer Curver UK, where he was managing director for the UK and Ireland. During his three years at Curver he led the business through a major turnaround and achieved significant sales and profit improvement. Previously, he spent 12 years at Brita, where he held a number of senior roles including that of sales director.

Mr Lee, who is departing Methven to concentrate on other business interests, said: “I am immensely proud of what we have all achieved at Methven in the last four years. The business is in great shape, with fantastic people, and I look forward to seeing Methven’s continuing success in the years to come.”

David Banfield, group CEO at Methven, said: “Since joining Methven in 2010, Steve has been instrumental in the restructure of the UK operation creating a sustainable business for the future. He has helped the group – and me personally – to improve our understanding and customer focus on both a national and international stage, and we thank him for his superb work.”

Of Mr Walker’s appointment, he added: “I am really pleased to have secured someone of Martin’s proven ability to help take Methven forward. He has substantial experience both internationally and across different sectors, and I know he is hugely excited by the opportunities we face at Methven and we look forward to welcoming him on board.”
