One of Jackson Buildbase's three teams, The Aces of Base, became this year's BMF Master Merchant champions, following two days of closely contested physical and mental challenges in the Lake District.

The competing teams underwent challenges including rock climbing, abseiling and canoeing,  with other communication and problem solving tasks.

The winning team comprised of Steven Dawber, Chris Newstead, Craig Harrison, Craig Gration from the Jackson Buildbase Skegness branch.

Assistant branch manager Steven Dawber said: “This is the second time that the Skegness team has taken part in Master Merchant and it was a fantastic achievement to come out as winners. The challenges were all great fun in their own way, some fried your brain, others your body, putting people way out of their comfort zone. Once again the event proves how great team spirit between all the teams brings about the right result.”

In a closely fought contest, last year’s winners Simpson & Allinson took the runners up prize just ahead of third placed JT Atkinson. Many of those taking part were newcomers to the competition.

BMF managing director John Newcomb said: “After seeing this amazing event for the first time last year, I knew it would be an excellent vehicle for BMF’s relatively new team and I was delighted to see so many others join in the contest this year. I think it is the first time the competition has been full to capacity, which made it an even better experience for everyone involved. It’s not only a fantastic team building exercise, but also a great way for teams from merchants and suppliers to get to know each other better.”
