Richard Williams (Deganwy) Ltd has announced the death of its owner, Martin Stewart.

A post of the company's Facebook page said that Stewart passed away in Glan Clwyd Hospital on the morning of 6 September, after a short illness.

Stewart purchased Richard Williams Ltd in 1971 from Williams who had himself bought it in 1921 when it was named J. Parr & Co. The company was renamed in 1938 and now operates from branches in Llandudno Junction and Ruthin, north Wales.

The social media post, which is signed by Nigel and Rob Stewart, continues: "We are sorry that many of you won’t be able to show your respects in the usual manner, as a result of the restrictions during these uncertain times. Due to the limited number of mourners allowed at the funeral service; loyal staff, customers, friends and colleagues can bid Martin a farewell as the funeral cortege passes Richard Williams Builders Merchants, Conwy Road, Llandudno Junction at 10.00am on Friday 18th September before it proceeds to a private family funeral service.

"As a family, we’d like to thank you for all your kind words and messages of support, it means a lot to us."
