Andy Phillips has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Manufacturers’ Association of Radiators and Convectors (MARC).

Elected by his peers, Phillips plans to continue to drive awareness of legislation and properly certified radiators.

Established in 2011 as a subsidiary of BARMA (the Boiler and Radiator Manufacturers' Association, founded in 1941), MARC is an industry body that seeks to educate the entire supply chain from manufacturer to end user about the legislation surrounding radiators and convectors. Since its beginnings, MARC's membership has grown substantially, drawing manufacturers and suppliers of decorative and designer radiators.

As an established member for four years, IRSAP has been using its influence in the radiator market via its trading divisions, The Radiator Company, Supplies4Heat and Clyde, to raise the profile of the industry body, and to protect distributers, installers and consumers from misleading radiator figures.

Phillips commented: “IRSAP has been instrumental in working with MARC to educate merchants, installers and consumers on the importance of certification and legislation, particularly regarding BS EN1442.

“It is the law, and a merchant’s legal responsibility, to only sell products that comply with BS EN442. Sadly, there are products on the market that are subpar and do not meet legal requirements, so it is critical that merchants, installers and consumers are fully aware of the obligations and what is required from manufacturers in order to help to reduce the problem in the industry.”

“IRSAP has always promoted the importance of radiator legislation, and the manufacture of high-quality, fully certified products which will work as intended. I am very proud to join the Chairman, at the forefront of MARC to continue to drive this message throughout the industry.”
