Five recruits will join two existing Mental Health First Aiders which will be based across the North East and Yorkshire to support the mental and physical wellbeing of workers.
James Burrell Builders Merchants is investing in training up more of its staff members to take up the role as Mental Health First Aiders across the business to provide employees with mental health support and guidance.
One in four people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England - often a taboo subject in many workplaces and James Burrell is committed to ensuring this isn’t the case across the company.
Paul Butler, Health and Safety Manager, said: “In this highly unusual time, we believe it’s crucial that our staff keep safe and well and seek support when needed. This is why we are investing into expanding the number of Mental Health First Aiders within the company and appointing five more staff members to be put through the extensive training course. The five recruits will join our two existing Mental Health First Aiders which will be based across the North East and Yorkshire to support the mental and physical wellbeing of our workers.
"We recognise that the pandemic has taken its toll on people across the country and supporting the mental health within the business is hugely important to us. Our Mental Health First Aiders are there to provide support for staff both remotely and face-to-face and this training gives them the tools to spot the signs of mental health issues early and act.”
