DARWEN: Crown Paints has appointed Darryl Senior to the role of purchasing director.

Mr Senior brings to Crown a wealth of experience in the decorative coatings industry having spent almost twenty years at Sigma Kalon, during which time he worked in accounting, purchasing and supply chain roles across the company rising to the position of group purchasing manager.

Prior to accepting the Crown Paints directorship, Mr Senior was head of logistics for Damartex, a publicly owned French apparel manufacturer and retailer with over €500million t/o across Europe. To further broaden his experience he has also worked as a supply chain consultant planning sales and operations strategies for two multinationals and heading up a European procurement project for a major bathroom and sanitary ware manufacturer.

Mr Senior’s combination of management, industry and academic experience will stand him in good stead at Crown Paints Limited, a company which was subject to a management buyout backed by private equity house Endless LLP in 2008. Prior to the buyout the UK paint manufacturing business had been a wholly owned subsidiary of the Dutch conglomerate Akzo Nobel for 18 years.
