HULL: Building supplies specialist MKM held a coffee morning in branches nationwide on recently and succeeded in raising over £8500 for the charity – Macmillan Cancer Support.

The coffee morning, which invited building and retail customers to attend their nearest branch, was part of the official Macmillan Cancer Support ‘World’s biggest coffee morning'.

The money was raised through customers donating £5 to the charity and, in return, enjoying coffee, bacon sarnies and plenty of home baking. Collection boxes were also set up.

Additionally, at the event, donators had the chance to win a £7000 John Lewis shopping voucher and enter a raffle to win £150 worth of MKM vouchers.

The morning ran from 7.30am to midday and was held in branches all over the country with the Grimsby branch raising the most, totalling over £1000.

Nigel Jackson, manager at the branch, said: “Macmillan Cancer support is an important charity and its role, improving the lives of patients, families and communities who suffer from cancer, deserves our full support.”

He added: “I would like to thank the generosity of all the customers and the local community who helped to raise the money and make the event a great success.”

Macmillan coffee mornings are an annual event and provide important fundraising support to the charity, raising over £8.5 million a year.
