Keyline, the distributor of construction and civils materials, has invested close to £1m to provide Yard Grab equipment at its yards across the UK. This measure has been taken as part of an on-going Keyline programme to enhance employee health and safety.
The Yard Grab is a hydraulic lifting device that enables just a single slab or other single product unit to be lifted with ease. Previously colleagues would take on this task manually and, across the course of a day, this could mean a lot of heavy lifting. Since introducing the Yard Grabs, manual handling at certain yards has been reduced by up to 80%, giving Keyline colleagues more time to spend with customers.
Richard Byrne, safety director at Keyline, said: “We’ve had some tremendous feedback from our yard colleagues since introducing the Yard Grabs, it’s really making a big difference to their health and job satisfaction. We think this more than justifies our investment.”
