The owner of a roofing company in Exmouth won a Paslode nail gun worth £500 in a prize draw as part of a campaign to raise awareness of changes to roofing standards.

Michael Slater from SRS Roofing responded to a Jewson email that flagged up John Brash’s campaign, which raises awareness of changes to roofing standards – which included a competition to win the nail gun.

Mr Slater said that he doesn’t usually enter competitions but had wanted to get his hands on a copy of John Brash’s guide to BS5534:2014 because it was a bite-sized version of all the changes to the British Standard for roofing that came into force last year.

He said: “BS5534:2014 is one of the most significant changes in the roofing industry during the past 50 years, and although the official documentation is important, there’s lots to wade through. The John Brash guide is a brilliant bite-sized version that contains everything a roofer needs to know.”

Mr Slater went to his local Jewson branch in Withycombe, Exmouth, to collect his new nail gun, which he says will be put to good use on the wide variety of projects that his company gets involved with across Devon and beyond.
