Mr Miliband was at the show to participate in a debate on the Great British Refurb, a campaign led by Kevin McCloud designed to get the Government to set more immediate targets for reducing the 27% of the UK's carbon emissions produced by the 26 million existing homes, not just newbuilds.
The Rain Director is the latest 'must-have' device to ensure a constant head of clear rainwater for washing machines, toilets, the garden and other uses. Its header tank in the home's roof space is controlled by electronic level sensors, valves and control panel.
It saves energy and prolongs pump life by reducing hunting and overall use of the pump. It provides mains backup if the rainwater runs out, provides water even during power cuts and ensures crystal clear water even after coming back from holiday.
Rainwater harvesting enables homes to cut their water bills in half, helps them conform to the Code for Sustainable Homes and new Building Regulations, and permits them to water the garden during droughts and hosepipe bans.
