A “revolutionary” waste-repurposing product is being developed following a new partnership to ensure its readiness.
The HERU converts everyday items that would have been destined for disposal, such as coffee cups, plastics and nappies, and converts them into energy to heat water.
And now the Manufacturing Technology Centre, an independent research and technology organisation, has partnered with HERU to ensure its design and build is suitable for the UK market.
This will be key in the lifetime modelling analysis and bill of materials required to produce the first 100 HERUs, ensuring the machines are cost-effective.
Nik Spencer, creator of the HERU, said: “The MTC bring with them a broad depth of engineering skills from across multiple engineering disciplines and market sectors.
”This experience and credibility will be invaluable as we scale up, ultimately bringing the HERU to a mass market.”
