The only girls’ rugby team in its area has scored sponsorship from a local builders’ merchant.

RGB Building Supplies’ Exmouth branch said it is “delighted” to be sponsoring newly-formed Exmouth & Withycombe Junior Girls Rugby team, and representatives and players recently paid a visit to the branch to showcase the new kit they have bought with the sponsorship money.

Exmouth RFC and Withycombe RFC had joined forces to create three teams for under 13s, under 15s and under 18s, playing both friendly and cup games against other teams in the region.

As the only club for girls in the local area, members are given the chance to learn and enjoy the sport, and the club welcomes players of all abilities.

David Wright, Branch Manager at RGB Exmouth, said: “We’re pleased to be supporting Exmouth & Withycombe Junior Girls and we were delighted to welcome them to the branch in their new kit.

“The club is doing a fantastic job in encouraging local girls to get involved in the sport and we wish them every success in their future matches.”

Amy Gillard, Junior Girls’ Manager, said: “We are delighted to have a partnership with RGB, who have helped provide the girls with their own identity.

“We were very grateful to be able to debut the shirts in our first ever cup match on Sunday 18 November at Cullompton RFC, where our girls brought home a win.”
