MANCHESTER: HMG Paints is celebrating its 80th anniversary with the announcement that it intends to be the number one supplier to the domestic industrial coatings market.

The company, which claims to already be a market leader in the UK bus and coach refinishing sector, has built its reputation for responsive customer service and offers as wide a range of paints, powder coatings and pre-treatments.

"Some of the traditional values seem to be disappearing from our industry, but we like to think that we possess the attributes that buyers still value – like customer service and technical excellence," said managing director John Falder.

"As a long-established, privately-owned British paintmaker, we concentrate our manufacturing resources in this country and are particularly strong in areas like research and development, colour matching and technical support."

The company has appointed ex-Trimite national sales controller Ian Knowles to help spearhead its push for a greatly increased share of the industrial coatings business, both in the UK and Ireland.
