BARROW: Brett Landscaping has developed a new RIBA Approved CPD presentation entitled ‘SUDS and the Role of Permeable Paving’ designed to inform architects, engineers and other specifiers on the need for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS), the key policy and regulatory drivers, as well as an explanation of how permeable pavements work within SUDS design.

The presentation will help specifiers to understand the design and construction of permeable pavements, the various material options available, as well as the comparative costs of conventional and permeable pavements.

Speaking about the new CPD presentation, Andrew Gill, specification product manager at Brett Landscaping said; “Sustainable drainage is an increasingly important subject set against a background of the recent floods and the impending tightening of the regulatory framework aimed at tackling the issue of flooding and water pollution. The Flood and Water Management Bill, which should be legislation by 2012 at the latest, will effectively make SUDS mandatory on future construction schemes.

“This new CPD presentation gives specifiers all the information they need to understand the issue of SUDS as they prepare for a future in which Sustainable Drainage is a fundamental design consideration. Permeable pavements offer urban designers a system of surface water management which can be incorporated into their projects that will provide attractive, yet functional solutions which meet present and future requirements.”
