ABERGAVENNY: Robert Price Builders’ Merchants has presented sets of trade tools to three building trainees currently working for the Housing Association, Newport City Homes (NCH) as part of the Future Jobs Fund project.

The scheme, designed to give individuals who have been claiming Job Seekers Allowance for between 39 and 51 weeks, is run by Newport City Council and gives the trainees the opportunity to gain much needed work experience to assist them in their search for full time employment.

Emma Parkes, marketing manager of Robert Price Builders’ Merchants said: “We are so grateful to Irwin, Stanley and Spear & Jackson for donating the tools. This scheme gives a real chance to these young people, and it is thanks to the generosity of the tool suppliers that we have been able to support them. We are all aware of how hard the construction industry has been hit during the current recession, and it is fantastic to be able to give support in this way.”
