SHEFFIELD: Pagets builders' merchants has developed a Green Energy Centre at its Broadfield Road site to promote renewable energy technologies.

Gary Chamberlain, a mechanical engineer worked with the merchant and installed a solar thermal system on Pagets' roof, which has led to other enquiries and referrals.

Pagets, through its Green Energy Centre, were part of the team that won the 2010 Yorkshire and Humber Micro-generation Partnership Award for the Best Home Installation.

Pagets worked alongside one of its installers to help provide the solutions for a bungalow. Along with a loft insulation upgrade, a Solar PV panel on the South-facing roof and a heat pump were installed.

Lorcan Anglin, managing director of Pagets said: "From the homeowners first contact with us through to the successful completion of the installation we provided the necessary advice and materials to help make it happen.

"In early 2009 this was one of our first attempts at being at the centre of a micro-generation project and this award is a nice pat on the back for our staff, the partner installer and the customer for the making this happen.

"Our aim at the Green Energy Centre is to help people make the right and impartial choice about what they can do depending upon budget and opportunity. There is no 'silver bullet' and we provide the products and solutions to suit newbuild or refurbishment projects."
