WORCESTERSHIRE: A major heating product and services supplier celebrated 10 successful years of business yesterday.

Martyn Bridges, director of marketing and technical support of Worcester, Bosch Group, said: "When our company started producing these boilers, we could never have imagined how much of a success they would be."

The future of combination boilers remains to be seen, with the current emphasis on the environment, but it seems inevitable that legislation will force combis to be designed to function in conjunction with renewable technologies.

There must also be development geared towards exising housing stock if the UK is ever to make its enviromental targets, Mr Bridges pointed out. Controls, for example, should be upgraded, as many houses exist with only a timer and thermostatic radiator valves, which does not allow for efficient use of the heating system.

Along with a dedicated design team, Worcester has also invested in an intensive quality programme and installer-targeted marketing, with the aim of taking the company and its combis into the future.
