HAMPSHIRE: Independent builders' merchant, Coomers, has competed its recent expansion and refurbishment of its depot at Oakhanger, near Bordon a three-phase installation that includes pallet racking, cantilever racking and longspan storage.

Continuing its long-term relationship of providing independent plumbing and building supplies Coomers, teamed up with Spaceway Group's storage division to get the job done.

Spaceway increased Coomers external pallet racking by reconfiguring its existing system and installing 21 bays of new racking to accommodate 210 pallet locations.

A further 12 bays of new pallet racking were added to accommodate up to 96 pallets in the company's new warehouse.

With the first phase completed, Spaceway turned its attention to timber storage by relocating the existing cantilever racking into a newly designed layout.

A further six new bays of cantilever racking provided Coomers with 42 linear metres for timber storage.

Spaceway then designed and installed a further four new bays of cantilever racking for general storage and set out five bays specifically for concrete/timber post storage.

To complete the final phase of the refit, four bays of longspan racking were added to Coomers' retail store. It incorporates all the necessary shopfitting components.

"Spaceway provided us with detailed drawings and advised us on the best configuration to maximise space both externally and inside our new warehouse," said Viv Barnes, branch manager of the Oakhanger depot.
