COLCHESTER: Craig Todd and Peter Last have been presented with certificates to show that their branches of builders' merchant Kent Blaxill comply with Essex County Council's 'Buy with Confidence' scheme standards.
Mr Todd, manager of Kent Blaxill's Kirby Cross branch, and Peter Last, showrooms manager at the Colchester head office branch, received the certificates at a special ceremony held at Five Lakes Hotel and Country Club. To qualify, they had to undergo an audit by trading standards.
Mr Last said: "We are delighted to have had the opportunity to join Essex County Council's trading standards Buy With Confidence scheme."
Staff from other Kent Blaxill branches will be undergoing training to achieve the Fair Trading Award, which involves training staff about consumer rights and responsibilities.
The Buy With Confidence scheme is a 'good trader' scheme set up to help consumers find reputable local businesses. It is open to large and small businesses of all types wishing to establish good customer service throughout their business.
Trading Standards officers vet businesses for trustworthiness and to make sure they comply with consumer protection laws.
Approved businesses will be constantly monitored by Trading Standards to ensure their standards remain high, and feedback will also be invited from their customers.
