UK/SWEDEN: Four merchants from Chandlers Building Supplies in southern England were among the seven graduates from SCA Timber Supply's latest customer training course to visit the timber firm in Sweden this month.

The SCA course graduates were: Dominic Sherwood, John Mitchell, Nicholas Fennell and Ian Porter of Chandlers Building Supplies; Laura Thomas, Soil Association; Andrew Williams, SCA Stoke-on-Trent and Lynsey Hughes of SCA Welshpool.

The nine achievers visited SCA Tunadal spruce sawmill, the company's FSC-certified forests, and SCA Bogrundet tree nursery, where the company grows over 80 million new trees each year for re-stocking the forests.

Also on the trip were the two winners of the 2009 annual timber Career Development Awards, sponsored by SCA: Sarah Broadley of Jewson and Shaun Smith of West Port Windows, alongside course graduates from SCA itself and from auditing body the Soil Association.

The trip consolidated knowledge gained on SCA's Wood Technology Society course, and recognised the special training achievements of the two industry award-winners.
