SUSSEX: Three months on from the earthquake that left over one million people homeless, a box of aid sponsored by Chandlers Building Supplies is being used by a family in Haiti to rebuild their life.

The box has been sponsored through disaster relief charity, ShelterBox, who specialise in providing aid following disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes and floods.

Chandlers heard about the charity through Clarkes Roofing employee Matthew Roberts, a customer at its Ringmer branch.

Mr Roberts is part of the ShelterBox Response Team and travels to disaster areas delivering boxes of aid to those in need.

Each box supplies an extended family of up to 10 people with a tent and life-saving equipment whilet they are homeless.

Richard Skinner, Chandlers Building Supplies' commercial manager, commented: "Matthew has done some amazing work with ShelterBox and following his return from Sumatra, where he was helping after an earthquake, Chandlers wanted to do something for the charity.

"Over 13 000 boxes of aid have been distributed throughout Haiti so far and we are delighted to have been able to sponsor a box to help one family to rebuild their life."
