BIRMINGHAM: A working fire station was the centre of industry debate this April as leading figures from the architectural ironmongery and locksmith industries met to learn more about new AI products and testing procedures.
The event helped champion a strong fire safety message while coinciding with the launch of a new range of products from Owlett-Architectural. Delegates from leading architectural ironmongers and locksmiths across the UK were urged to focus on raising awareness of fire safety and the benefits of third party testing.
The real dangers of incorrect specification were highlighted by experts from West Midlands Fire Service and Exova Warringtonfire, followed by an open discussion on how the industry is working to eliminate such risks.
Graham Sims, commercial manager at Owlett-Architectural, said: “The stark reality is that correct specification of architectural ironmongery can prevent the spread of fire and, ultimately, save lives. It’s up to us as an industry to ensure that products, tested to the appropriate level, are championed as an effective precaution against the spread of fire.
“Occasions like these are crucial in keeping fire protection at the forefront of industry minds and similar events should become a regular feature in every architectural ironmonger’s calendar as legislation changes and quality products continue to evolve.”
