SUNDERLAND: Brooks Bros has extended both its FSC and PEFC certification with BM TRADA Certification to its timber yard and milling operations in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear.

Accounts and administration controller James MacLeod said that chain of custody certification was important to the company, both to fulfil its own environmental policy targets and to enable customers to meet theirs. "As a group, Brooks Bros strives to source timber and wood products responsibly and sustainably. Concern for the environment is something we share with an increasing number of our customers."

There are commercial benefits, too, Mr MacLeod added. "Chain of custody certification enables us to quote on specific FSC/PEFC enquiries, thus leading to orders we might otherwise have missed out on, and to expand our customer base as a result."
