EAST ANGLIA: Ridgeons builders' merchants took delivery of seven Volvo FE-300, 6x2 rigids with Hiab XS144B-2 HiDuo's this week.

Hiab's solutions to comply with the Machinery Directive were very attractive to Ridgeons.  The heart of the system, Vehicle Stability Limitation (VSL) uses analogue and pressure sensing on the legs and slew system, to provide interlocks which are infinitely progressive.

For every millimetre the leg is extended the capacity of the crane is increased ensuring that no matter what condition the leg system is deployed to, or at what angle the boom is, in relation to the truck, the capacity of the crane is always at a safe maximum.

The Volvo FE rigids feature hydraulically steered tag-axles for enhanced manoeuvrability.  The 5250mm wheelbase FE's are equipped with the 300 HP 7-litre engine and Volvo Engine Brake (VEB).

Cab specification includes air-conditioning and the audio advanced package with Blue tooth.

The trucks are being serviced at Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia Dealerpoints on an 84 month Volvo Contract Maintenance package.  Annual mileage is expected to be around 60 000km and the safety inspection interval is seven weeks.
