LONDON: John White, chief executive of the Timber Trade Federation, has been appointed as the new president of the European Timber Trade Association (FEBO). He steps up from his previous role as vice-president.

Mr White, who was confirmed at the FEBO AGM in Helsinki in June, will commence his term in office in January 2011.

Speaking about the appointment, Martin Gale, president of the Timber Trade Federation, said: "John's appointment recognises the important role the TTF takes in Europe. The TTF team did an excellent job in helping to facilitate the recent due diligence legislation through the European Parliament and John's appointment will help ensure that the UK remains at the heart of the European trade's engagement with European politicians, civil servants and stakeholders."
