EXETER: Connaught Partnerships, parent company of the social housing maintenance business is formally in administration.

However, the group's ground maintenance business, Connaught Environmental, and health and safety advice unit, Connaught Compliance, are not in administration and continue to trade solvently.

The administrators yesterday warned that they will need the support and goodwill of councils and housing association customers in order to keep job losses to a minimum.

Brian Green, joint administrator KPMG, said: "Connaught Partnerships are heavily dependent on gaining the support of their customers and trying to get a relatively quick answer to whether anyone is interested in taking on all or part of the contracts."

"We need to make some fairly quick decisions based on customer support and we need to work out what that is before we can give any assurances," he said.

KPMG is engaged in fast-moving talks with several property maintenance suppliers keen to cherry pick Connaught's contracts.
