COVENTRY: Jewson has tied up a sponsorship deal with Welsh regional rugby team the Ospreys ahead of the new season. The company, which has thirty branches across Wales, has signed a three-year agreement with the reigning Magners League Champions.

Formed in 2003 following a merger between Welsh rugby clubs Neath and Swansea, the Ospreys are the leading team in Wales and are firmly established among Europe’s leading clubs. Their success in the Magners League last season, where they defeated Leinster in the Grand Final in Dublin, saw them become the first side to win three Celtic League titles, following previous success in 2005 and 2007. In addition, they won the 2008 Anglo-Welsh Cup, defeating Leicester in front of more than 50,000 at Twickenham, while they have reached the final eight in Europe’s premier competition, the Heineken Cup, in each of the last three seasons.

Under the deal, the Jewson logo will feature on the right arm of the Ospreys jersey, which is the second biggest selling club shirt in the UK and Ireland, with 45 000 sold during the 2009/10 season.

Steve Went, Jewson area director for South Wales commented: “Wales is renowned for its rugby talent and the Ospreys in particular are at the forefront of not only the Welsh but the International rugby scene.

Jewson has a strong presence in Wales with a large customer base; we recognise their passion for the sport and are proud to make this official association with the club. We look forward to cheering the Ospreys on over the forthcoming seasons”
