NORTHAMPTON: Wickes has appointed Tony Holdway as its brand director. He held a similar position with Littlewoods, his previous employer.

Mr Holdway, who joins Wickes later this month, was previously Woolworth's marketing and customer service director and before that Mothercare's head of marketing and business development.

He will oversee brand design and targeting and promotional planning. Wickes has conducted a marketing overhaul in recent years and launched its first TV advertising campaign in a decade in December 2008.

"In any business the role is to grow the top line or turnover. “It's my job to keep revenues buoyant and the tills dancing," he said.
