DERBYSHIRE: Rugby players in Buxton have benefited from a £300 cash boost thanks to building materials giant, Lafarge Aggregates & Concrete UK.

The money will go towards new training equipment for Buxton Rugby Club which is close to Lafarge's Dowlow quarry and is the workplace of the club coach and two players.

Steve Dennehy, coach and Dowlow shift supervisor, who has been at the Derbyshire quarry for 22 years said: "This is a very welcome donation and puts much needed funds into the club. Lafarge is a big company locally and quarrying is so important to this area it's great to see links strengthened within the community. We will benefit from new training pads and Lafarge will get a pitchside hoarding to highlight its support."
