NORTHAMPTON: The Office of Fair Trading said it needs more time to examine the planned purchase by builders’ merchant Travis Perkins of BSS Group.
The OFT decided to review the deadline until Tuesday 26 October to consider the information.
Travis Perkins meanwhile said its original timetable for completing the deal was 22 October. The takeover would create Britain's largest plumbing and heating trade and retail distribution business.
Travis Perkins was in defiant mood and stated that it was well placed to withstand the Government's austerity measures. The national merchant forecasts that it would outperform its rivals in 2011.
