COOKHAM: Construction marketing specialists see the value in professional membership and qualifications, as the Chartered Institute of Marketing Construction Industry Group (CIMCIG) experienced a record boost in member numbers.

CIMCIG’s latest figures indicate a 25% increase in membership for 2010, compared to 2009 – demonstrating that qualified marketing professionals want to ensure that they are the best they can be, as the construction industry emerges out of recession, said chairman Ian Exall.

“CIMCIG exists to help marketers working in the construction industry. By advancing the careers of its members, providing assistance, sharing knowledge, skills and best practice, CIMCIG aims to elevate the status of the marketing professional.

“Marketing encompasses business development, sales and commercial management as well as the classic functions of communications, product and service development. In many companies ‘marketing’ is the responsibility of people who don’t always have 'marketing' in their job titles. CIMCIG is concerned with the process and function of marketing, not specifically the job title.

“The news that our membership numbers have increased in what has been a difficult year is a great testament to CIMCIG’s dedicated team of committee members and its active involvement in the construction industry.”

CIMCIG membership is open to all construction marketers. To receive further details, visit www.cimcig.org and download a membership application form.
