ESSEX: Customers and staff of Colchester builders' merchant Kent Blaxill paid a total of £2900 to cover the company's headquarters in sponsored spots for Children in Need.
Large spots were sold in advance by staff and put up overnight on Thursday, with the selling of smaller spots at £1 each to customers continuing throughout Friday.
Customers were invited to stick the spots wherever they wanted on the outside of the building.
Customers were greeted by Kent Blaxill's own Pudsey Bear, Barry Welham, wearing the bright yellow spotty suit, bear's ears and a painted face, as well as Jason Kirby and Rich Page dressed as the '118' men. A large selection of cakes, made by staff, were available in the foyer in exchange for a donation, and there was also a raffle for two 'Dulux' toy dogs.
The event was organised at Kent Blaxill by Monica Hartley who said: "Everyone has been fantastic. Our customers have been incredibly generous, and all the staff rallied around. I have never seen so many cakes as were brought in by them this morning.
"The building looked cute - well, as cute as a builder's merchant can look," Ms Hartley said.
