EAST SUSSEX: HPS Builders' and Plumbing Merchants has raised a total of £53 629.18 for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital in 2010.

With the support of its staff and customers, the 26-branch company achieved this record total through a number of branch events and golf days.

Lindsey Burke of Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital Charity said: "Heating Plumbing Supplies has been an amazing supporter of the hospital and we truly staggered by the figure raised in 2010, we are so incredibly grateful for their continued support."

HPS sales director Peter Wilson said: "In January 2010, following a visit to the hospital by our managing director Ron Walker and branch operations director Alec Meadows and myself, HPS pledged to buy three highly specialist intensive care beds for GOSH over the next two years.

"The beds, which cost in excess of £22 000 each, can move into just about any position required and can even weigh children who are often too ill to be moved but where the exact weight is often required to calculate exact drug dosages. This total means we are more than on target to achieve this aim."
