RHYL: It’s a positive start to 2011 for Anglesey-based building materials company Huws Gray as they announce plans to open a brand-new branch in Rhuddlan near Rhyl.

The acquisition of the old John Hughes Roofing Supplies site at Marsh Road in Rhuddlan takes the number of Huws Gray locations throughout north Wales, Shropshire and the north-west to 33. The branch network covers a wide geographical area ranging from Pwllheli to Wigan and from Tywyn in mid Wales to Telford, with a head office based in Llangefni on Anglesey.

Huws Gray managing director Terry Owen welcomed the acquisition as he commented: “While our acquisition of Ainscough Building Supplies near Wigan in August 2010, further- enhanced our presence in north-west England, as a company we are delighted to be able to add another Welsh location to our branch network.

“The location in Rhuddlan is a perfect fit for us in terms of location and business potential. Not only does it take us into Denbighshire for the first time, but alongside our existing branches in Colwyn Bay (Mochdre), Prestatyn (Gronant) and Flint, it will significantly enhance our presence along the north Wales coast.”

As extensive refurbishments to ensure that the branch meets the company’s extremely high standards in terms of layout and livery get underway, Mr Owen expects the new branch in Rhuddlan to be open to the public and trade customers in March.

“We are actively recruiting a management team and staff for the branch, and I would be more than happy for anyone who is interested in being part of a dynamic and successful team to get in touch with me directly on towen@huwsgray.co.uk or through our website.”

“It will be a mixed branch selling heavyside and lightside materials as well as continuing the site’s old tradition of specializing in roofing. In a nutshell, it will be a one-stop shop for all your building needs and we can’t wait to get the site ready for all our customers old and new.”

2011 promises to be a busy time for the company and its managing director, who has a strong appetite for further expansion. “We are a positive company and we’ll be hitting the ground running this January. In addition to getting Rhuddlan up and running, we will be refurbishing and even relocating within our existing branch network, investing in new IT capacity to improve efficiencies and, as always, looking to add to our portfolio.”
