LONDON: BMF is joining forces with the Freight Transport Association and the Road Haulage Association to back the Fair Fuel UK Campaign. The aim is to persuade the Government to abandon the big fuel duty increase planned for 1 April this year and to deliver on the promise to put in place a fuel price stabiliser.

The core of the campaign is the launch of a website petition to be sent to politicians. BMF is encouraging all members to personally sign this petition in order to demonstrate the depth of feeling against further increases in fuel duty. The more signatures we get, the greater the chances of success. The petition and more information on the Campaign can be found at www.FairFuelUK.com

The Fair Fuel UK campaign is managed by Peter Carroll, who has been involved in previous fuel duty campaigns and, more recently, was responsible for the successful ‘Justice for Gurkhas’ Campaign, fronted by the actress Joanna Lumley.

BMF supports the campaign on the understanding that it will not involve direct action or blockades. We have written to George Osborne, the Chancellor of the Exchequer pressing our own arguments to Government about the stunting effects ever rising fuel costs have on merchants and the building sector generally.
