UK: DX, one of the UK and Ireland’s leading independent logistics network operators, has been appointed by Travis Perkins to handle deliveries for its heating spares brand, City Heating Spares.

Providing support to Travis Perkins’ existing fleet, DX assumes responsibility for all emergency and ‘one-off’ deliveries of boiler parts within the City Heating Spares internal and customer network.

The overnight service enables customers to place ‘one off’ evening orders for next-day delivery, either direct to branch or into a local Parcelxchange before 8am. Shaving a day off the turnaround times for emergency supplies, the service enables customers to make essential repairs quickly and without delay.

Under the contract, DX is supplying all 36 City Heating Spares branches, with further assessments underway which could see the service extended to other parts and product ranges.

City Heating Spares’ commercial process manager, Colleen McCallum, said: “City Heating Spares is committed to offering a super-fast heating spares service. We have thousands of boiler parts in stock, but we have to ensure that customers are not kept waiting if we run low on particular products, so swift delivery is absolutely essential to our business.

“DX’s Business Direct In-Night service proved to be the perfect solution, enabling branches to order in the evening with a guarantee of an early next day delivery, before 8am. The service takes an entire day out of our existing supply chain, enabling our branch colleagues to deliver an unbeatable service.”

Paul Doble, sales and marketing director for the DX Group, said: “We have developed a flexible solution that combines our in-night delivery service with the use of ParcelXchanges. It means that City Heating Spares can meet customers’ needs on time, every time.”
