LEAMINGTON SPA: A sharp rise in the number of thefts of heating oil has prompted a security warning to home and business owners across the UK.
In off-mains areas where oil is the primary fuel, Plumb and Parts Center have dedicated oil branches which specialise in oil products and spares, including lockable bunded tanks, oil level monitors and tank alarms.
For maximum security installers should recommend that their customers consider replacing tanks with a lockable bunded tank which is made of heavy duty polyethylene.
"With prices for heating oil soaring, a recently filled tank could be holding well over £1000 worth of oil. That tempting for thieves," said Alan Stevenson, trading director of Plumb Center.
"We are able to supply a range of products for installers that will help their customers keep their oil secure and also prevent other problems arising from theft including damage to the surrounding area by oil leaking into the ground from cut pipes, which is costly to clean up as is the replacement of any lost oil and damaged pipework."
