ALTHAM: The partnership between Hyndburn Homes Repairs and Jewson is stepping up a level with the introduction of a new integrated electronic invoice system, designed to increase efficiency across the entire procurement chain.

The move follows the introduction of a dedicated Jewson branch at Hyndburn Homes’ site in June 2010, after the operation of the company’s stores function was transferred to Jewson as part of an Official Journal of the European Union tender process.

With Jewson’s expertise and capability, Hyndburn Homes has benefited considerably in terms of rationalising stock holding, reducing administration and improving efficiency.

The new integrated IT solution will deliver a streamlined procurement chain, seamlessly ordering, tracking, invoicing and receiving payment for materials, with Jewson’s online system linking directly into the IBS Capita system of Hyndburn Homes Repairs. Not only will this enable a quicker, more efficient service, it will provide an easily accessible record of all transactions and the individual jobs they relate to, eliminating the need to cross reference invoices.

“This new system is the latest in a series of changes we have been making to our procurement system, since partnering with Jewson,” said Dave Cross, operations manager at Hyndburn Homes Repairs. “The partnership is constantly evolving as we look for new ways to improve the supply chain and work more closely with each other. It has enabled us to monitor our sales and transactions more closely, increasing value for money – as well as benefiting residents, with the introduction of discount cards and recycling initiatives.”

Vince Thurlby, stores sales manager from Jewson, said: “Partnerships such as the one we have with Hyndburn Homes Repairs are becoming an increasingly important part of our business and Jewson has worked hard to be able to integrate with most IT systems. The efficiencies and cost savings they generate can make a huge difference to the budgets of our partner organisations and in the present economic climate that is a significant driver for everyone in both the public or private sector.”

Mr Cross concluded: "We have already established a good working relationship with Jewson and I think the benefits of the partnership will continue to grow over time, adding value for both our workforce and our residents.”
