LUTON: Specialist builders’ merchant chain, Gibbs & Dandy, is rebranding its latest acquisitions, helping to improve its stock profile, capitalise on its specialist expertise and provide better deals for its customers.

Part of the Saint-Gobain group, Gibbs & Dandy, which has recently celebrated its 170th anniversary, is rebranding its latest merchant acquisitions to create a larger supply network stretching from Huddersfield down to Slough.

International Timber in Nottingham, Nixon Knowles in Worksop and Doncaster, plus Archibalds in Pudsey and Huddersfield, are the latest branches to join the Gibbs & Dandy fold, extending its reach to 17 branches.

This is the first stage of an ambitious growth plan by Gibbs & Dandy, with further rebrands scheduled to take place later this year in a bid to create a strong mix of merchants, offering specialist products and expertise alongside general building products.

Tania Tams, marketing director for the Gibbs & Dandy Group, said: “As part of the Saint-Gobain group, we acquired this mix of building and timber merchants several years ago and by themselves they provide a very specialised service to the local area. However, we felt that by rebranding these branches and integrating them into the Gibbs & Dandy network they could simultaneously provide localised and expert knowledge, whilst receiving the backing and benefits that comes with being part of a large merchant network.

“For example, the rebranded branches can now offer a wider choice of stock in new and upcoming areas, such as sustainable products, but customers will still retain the relationship with the staff they know and trust. In addition, joining the Gibbs & Dandy Group means they can quickly source products from other Gibbs & Dandy stores and offer both trade and retail customers the best possible prices.

“We are really pleased to be extending Gibbs & Dandy branches further afield, offering a merchant experience that is tailored to the local area. All of the Gibbs & Dandy businesses can boast long-serving staff who understand their customers’ needs and pride themselves on giving a personal service, so with the backing and support of a larger network, we can only continue to go from strength to strength.”
