LONDON: The Federation of Master Builders is working towards a partnership with the Builders Merchants Federation that could help ensure contractors win lucrative Green Deal work.

The Federation of Master Builders already partners with CITB-ConstructionSkills, the National Specialist Contractors Council to offer a service via the Cut the Carbon campaign to explain green building policy.

Many small businesses and contractors are struggling to cope under mountains of red tape and many fear missing out on business and grants as they do not have the resources to keep track of the latest legislation.

Cut the Carbon campaign is a web site that helps make small and medium-sized companies aware of the changes within the construction industry and makes those changes simple to understand.

In doing so it increases the opportunities open to companies to benefit from low carbon and initiatives such as the Green Deal.

Carbon reduction targets already affect contractors involved in new house-building and also domestic repair and maintenance. Targets are listed in the Cut the Carbon Countdown calendar. The focus of this campaign is to provide up-to-date information to SMEs on how to update skills to help win contracts in the new green economy.
